Are You Prepared?

When an emergency or disaster occurs, it may be days before you are rescued and services become available. A 72-hour supply of the essentials can make a huge difference in how you and your family are able to cope.  Your 72-hour kit should include:

  1. Flashlight (one for each family member)

  2. Radio

  3. Water (6 litres for each family member)

  4. Non-perishable food and a manual can opener (include baby supplies if necessary)

  5. First Aid Kit (include a 72-hour supply of essential medications like insulin)

  6. Pet supplies

  7. Candles, matches and a lighter

  8. Change of clothes

  9. Toilet paper

  10. Garbage bags

In addition, to avoid the inconvenience and devastation of losing vital documents such as passports, birth certificates, and/or pictures, store hardcopies in a separate location. Give yourself peace of mind – scan or copy all these documents onto a flash drive. This makes it easy to take them with you and easy to store a back-up copy.
